Marilyn Levine
Marilyn Levine is a retired teacher whose dream is to educate and pass on her love of dance and the arts to all of her students. Dance is a natural method for learning and it is a basic form of cultural expression. Children learn movement patterns as readily as they learn language. Dance is a powerful ally for developing many of the attributes of a growing child. Dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Mrs. Levine incorporated dance into her elementary teaching program by encouraging children to study dance during lunch time and after school. Dance was used to motivate her students and they were also awarded scholarships by the renowned jazz teacher/choreographer Frank Hatchett to study at Broadway Dance Center. These students also known as Positive Energy performed and competed at an international competition in Milan, Italy that was featured on the Michael Bonjourno television show.
Mrs. Levine has had the privilege and pleasure of inviting guest teachers to the 5678 Dance School such as Michael Trusnovec a principle Paul Taylor Dancer, Horace Turnbull who worked extensively with Danny Daniels and choreographed at Radio City Music Hall, Jeffrey Gerodias from Alvin Ailey and most recently Courtney Galiano the fabulous celebrity dancer from season 4’s So You Think You Can Dance and Glee.
Marilyn Levine's dream was for her daughter Jennifer to continue to educate and pass on the gift of dance to future generations. At 5678 Dance Mrs. Levine has watched this wish come true. Mrs. Levine strongly believes that it is vital to build public awareness and to work in partnership with parents in order to carry the message of the importance of the arts.
